Brag Tag Design Contest
Help us design Durham Public Library’s 2026 “Read & Bead” brag tags! The theme is “Unearth a Story”, inspired by all types of Dinosaurs and digging. We’re looking for creative designs from kids, teens, and adults. Two winning designs will be awarded and used for next summer’s readers!
Guidelines:
- Word Limit: None. But fewer words allow for larger, bolder designs.
- Design Size:
- Paper Submissions: Up to 8.5” x 11”.
- Digital Submissions: JPG, PNG, GIF, AI, or PDF files are welcome (max file size: 25MB).
- Double-sided: Yes! We encourage double-sided designs.
- ALL DESIGNS DUE BY MARCH 30TH

Babies and toddlers are on the move!
Join Miss Kristen for a special storytime combining stories, music and creative movement!
For tots ages 3-5, siblings are welcome.
Registration is not required, but is strongly encouraged so we can communicate about inclement weather!

Children of all ages with an adult are welcome to join Miss Alex on Tuesdays at 9:30 AM starting in February for stories, songs, and a playgroup to follow.
Registration is encouraged so that we can connect in the event of delay or cancellation due to weather or illness, but it is not required.


Toddler Drive in
Tuesday April 14th at 10am
Create a cardboard “car” and enjoy a drive-in movie experience! Families are invited to bring a cardboard box to transform into a car using provided art supplies, then settle in to watch a short movie together. Please email Miss Alex if you need a box! aklaus@durhamlibrary.org. Aimed at ages 2-5, all ages welcome with an adult.

LEGO Robotics
Monday evening kids in Grades 1-2 and 3+ can build and program a simple robot using
LEGO Spike Essential Robotics kits.
Registration required.
Register online using the library’s calendar starting 3/30.
Limit 10 per session.

Friendship Bracelets
Grades 1 & Up
Make a colorful friendship bracelet to share with a friend or keep for yourself! Create a unique bracelet using a variety of beads, strings, and patterns.
All supplies provided. Grades 1 & up .

Slime!
Get ready for a slime-tastic experience. Let your creativity run wild!
For kids in Grades K-2 & Grades 3-5. Registration required.

LEGO Challenge & Free Play
Thursday, April 16th From 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
Build, create, and compete! Join us for a LEGO Challenge & Free Play event. Enjoy friendly building competitions or simply play and explore with LEGO bricks. All ages (kids, teens & families welcome!)
Registration encouraged, however feel free to drop-in between 4:30 and 6:30pm.

Group Art-Pixel Art Picture
Friday April 17th at 2pm
Grades 1 and up can make a GIANT pixel art picture out of sticky notes as a group. Registration is required. There are 12 seats available.
