Welcome to the Durham Public Library’s Youth Summer Reading page! All of our programs are virtual this summer, with the exception of the Story Walk on the Green. All information can be found here and on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Miss Lauren at firstname.lastname@example.org and Miss Kristen at email@example.com. We can’t wait to enjoy summer with you!
Summer Reading Tracking Log Folders
Summer Reading Tracking Log Folders will be available for curbside pickup starting June 22nd! Stop by the entrance to the library and you’ll see a bin with folders. Each folder contains a log to mark the days you read or do a summer learning activity, a calendar of summer events, a bookmark, some stickers, and a tracking dragon – or Trackgon! Decorate your Trackgon and bring it back to the library so we can post them in the windows of the Children’s Room. We can’t wait to see all of the Trackgons flying around this summer!

Story Time @ Home
For birth – early elementary!
Story Time @ Home is back for the summer! We can’t have story time at the library, so we’re bringing story time to you! Each Friday we will release a whole new themed package of book recommendations, songs and a craft following the Summer Reading Program theme. Our first theme is MAGIC!
Access your story time guide on our website, and in our weekly release email sent right to your inbox!
For preschool – elementary and up!
Starting, June 29th, pick up a packet of craft and DIY ideas each week, while supplies last! Each packet will have activity ideas based on the summer reading theme, Imagine Your Story. Packets will be on the front porch on the library!
Write Your Story

You are a part of history!
Document what quarantine has been like for you – write a story or a few lines, draw a picture, or take a photo. Email Miss Lauren your work at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop it off at the library!
For elementary and up, or all ages with the help of an adult!
Join us every Tuesday in July for a baking or ice cream challenge! Send a pic of what you make and you’ll be entered to win a gift card!
