“GMO’s-Facts & Fiction”   by Barry Avery

Barry will cover basics of what GMOs are and what they aren’t, how they were developed, the process of manufacturing a GMO, where they are found today and their impacts.  He will also talk about the labeling controversy in the US and worldwide, the Politics involved and what the future of GMOs may hold.

Barry Avery is a Biologist graduating from Humboldt State University, a lifetime Gardener,  UConn Master Gardener, NOFA certified in Organic Lawn and Turf Care, Vice President of Connecticut Horticultural Society and member of the Granby Conservation Commission

“Fresh Farm Aquaponics”  by Eric Francis

Eric Francis is a Durham native and son of Selectman Laura Francis. He is a Partner in FRESH Farm, where he exercises his passion for social enterprise and business to improve his community.  FRESH Farm is a diverse company that uses Aquaponics to teach students STEM concepts, train developmentally disabled individuals for jobs, and help individuals and families grow their own food.
